🌅 When the Sun Sets on a Day of Healing

Yesterday evening, as my daughter and I walked out of urgent care, both of us tired, medicated, and ready to rest, the sky painted itself in the most radiant shades of gold and orange. Despite the ache in my ears and the pressure behind my eyes, I couldn’t help but pause. There was something sacred about that moment: the way the light broke through the clouds, wrapping the world in warmth as if to whisper, healing is still happening.
We had both been pushing through, me with sinusitis and double ear infections, and my daughter with bronchitis and sinus issues that we later discovered were triggered by mold in her college dorm’s unventilated shared bathroom. It was frustrating, but it also reminded me of an important truth: our environment directly affects our health.
I immediately took action, helping her file a maintenance complaint, deep-cleaning her room, and purchasing an air purifier and humidifier to restore balance. But beyond that, it reinforced what I teach through holistic wellness every day: a clean, ventilated environment isn’t optional; it’s essential.
This week, I’ll be shopping for a few natural air-purifying plants to add to her dorm, like snake plants and English ivy, both known to help filter toxins and mold from the air. Nature truly provides what we need to restore balance, if we’re willing to listen. 🌿
As a holistic nurse and mother, I often remind others that healing is more than medication, it’s energy, rest, and alignment. That evening, I took my own advice. When we arrived home, I made warm tea with honey and lemon, diffused eucalyptus and lavender, and opened the windows just enough to let the cool fall air in. My daughter and I curled up under blankets, listened to calming music, and simply breathed.
Wellness isn’t about perfection, it’s about presence. It’s the decision to see beauty even when your body feels broken. It’s acknowledging that healing is not just a physical process, but a spiritual and emotional one too.
So, as the seasons shift and the air grows cooler, I invite you to pause at your own sunset moments. Notice the warmth still shining through. Give your body the care it deserves, and let your home become a sanctuary for restoration. 🌅
